Pop-Up Skate Art Show in Casselberry, Florida Brings Advocates of All Ages

Skateboard Art Show Recap Video

--
SKATE 32707 – Support A Skatepark In Casselberry, a grassroots community group dedicated to improving recreation opportunities in Casselberry by advocating for, promoting and assisting in the development of a skatepark for the community, will be hosting a Pop-Up Skate Art Exhibition on February 9, 2018 alongside the Casselberry Art House in Lake Concord Park. In addition to showcasing art inspired by skateboarding, the event will also serve as a gathering to inspires all riders – Skateboarding, BMX or any other wheeled sport, to come together to share and enjoy in the history of over 40 years of action sports in the Casselberry area.

There are few people that remember the Longwood Pipeline Skatepark, formerly located on Dog Track Road, but it was a very important park for Central Florida, being one of 22 concrete skateparks built in Florida in the 1970’s. during its heyday, Longwood Pipeline was the subject of a feature article by Jane Casselberry in the Sanford Herald. Collectively, these skateparks gave birth to and inspired many of today’s professional action sports riders who hail from Florida, as well as many who have been enshrined in the Florida Skateboarding Hall of Fame!

As a result of the popularity of action sports, Central Florida is home to BMX companies; Sparky’s Distribution, and Shadow Conspiracy; skateboard brands; Lake Skateboards, Demon Seed & Lockhart Board Company, as well as local skate shops Galactic G, PLUS, Mr. B’s and Catalyst.

Participants in action sports have long been in the shadow of traditional sports athletes, however these riders are becoming more well-known daily, with appearances in televised coverage of the X-Games, Nike Street League and Vans Skatepark Series. In 2020, the Summer Olympic games in Tokyo will showcase skateboarding as an event for the first time.

Many of the athletes in action sports are artists and without doubt the skateboarding culture is deeply rooted in free expression and artistic freedom. In recognition of the influence of art within the action sports community, this gathering we will be a public showing of art, photography, fashion and videos from these riders, expressing their love for the lifestyle throughout the last 40 years.

We are expecting many of the skaters who founded lifelong friendships at Longwood Pipeline to attend. A showing of historical images and films from the past 40 years will surely be a highlight off the event."

#PrideoftheCity Video Premier on Go Skate Day in Orlando

This year on June 21st "Go Skateboarding Day" we are having a video premier party at the shop at 8pm.  This video is called Pride Of The City and is filmed and edited by Galactic G Team Manager and 27skateboard co. pro skateboarder, Carlos Leon.
Carlos has been skating in Orlando for almost his whole life. He knows the spots and the skaters in Central Florida that have the same passion for skating as himself and is putting them in front of the camera and on the big screen to show and support the great sport and people of skateboarding in neighboring cities.

Carlos has put in other great skateboarders like Jeffrey Silcott, Frankie Perez, Stephen Jarvis, Kyle Jackson, Dexter Caruthers, Justin Lee, Eric Testerman, Manny Claudio and many more.  Skating mostly in Orlando and neighboring towns and skateparks, this video will show that skateboarding in the City Beautiful can be really fun and will encourage others to use skateboarding as a healthy avenue in life to learn great skills like determination, courage, and a healthy alternative to self discipline.

We will be offering free food, drinks, and awesome giveaways for the event. We open the shop at 10am and will have sales going on all day! Free beer will be provided with ID.

Come by and get your skateboard ready for the big "Go Skateboarding Day" which is considered a national holiday for skateboarders because some city regulations to skateboarding on the streets will be lifted for the day.  Then come enjoy a free video premier of local skate spots and talk to the guys in the movie.

Chapter One: Let's Recap "Made" Premiere with Emerica, PBR, and Wing Girls

We did have the premiere plans for a party bus ride but due to unforeseen circumstances, plans changed.
Either way the premiere turned out great.

The video was heavily doused in skateboarding FIRE!!  In other words, Emerica brought the fire!  PBR brought the liquids and the Red Bull Wing Girls brought the wings.  Actually Ken cooked the free wings to eat but the Girls dropped by with some Red Bulls.

The G Team attended, which you'll see in the video.  Overall a great time.  Provost killed it.  Romero killed it.  Westgate KILLED it.  New AM, Jeremy can't remember his last name but his part is imprinted on our MINDS!  But it's Leabres if you were wondering.

If you miss out on our Premieres, don't take it lightly, you are missing OUT!  But no worries, come out to the next one.
We always post 'em up, make sure you don't miss it!

Check out the recap:

Don't forget, you can pick up the video and hardcover book in shop at Galactic G or here online.
The book has three different covers, which kind of wants to make us collect em all...

Lastly but not leastly, a BIG thanks to Emerica, PBR, Red Bull, and all who showed up to enjoy!  Cheers.
